KO Client EMI Sportswear Acquired by Lakeshirts

KO client EMI Sportswear recently announced its acquisition by Minnesota-based apparel company Lakeshirts. EMI is a 30-year-old retail apparel company and wholesale vendor known for its innovative apparel, on-trend designs, quality and customer service.

In the acquisition announcement, EMI founder and president Russ Coburn said, “I could not have imagined a better company for us to team up with to help take the EMI brand to its next evolution. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know everyone thus far at Lakeshirts. Their culture aligns with ours so well, and we know our customers are going to be thrilled with what they’ll be seeing from the new EMI/TGT banner.”

“In selling our company we believe we received superior advice, obtained more value, and enjoyed working with John Gaddis and his team at KO Law, more than any other lawyer or firm we have worked with or across from, or ever run into, in our 36-year history,” said Coburn. “KO provided smart, practical business advice and legal expertise to help us successfully close this acquisition. We’re immensely grateful for their support and partnership in helping us with this significant step for EMI.”

KO Law’s John Gaddis, Melissa Mellen, and Sara Richissin represented EMI in the deal. Read more in BizWest.
