KO Achieves 100% Participation in Legal Aid Foundation’s 2021 Associates Campaign

This year’s Legal Aid Foundation Associates Campaign raised more than $300,000 statewide in just one month. KO associates achieved 100 percent participation in the campaign, making KO one of just 38 firms to achieve this milestone. KO’s involvement was led by attorney Cory Helton.

KO is among the firms that helped the raise a record-breaking amount to fund free legal services in civil cases to Colorado clients who could not otherwise afford them. The campaign raises money for Colorado Legal Services (CLS), which serves clients living at or below 125% of the federal poverty guideline.

CLS provided free legal services for civil cases to more than 26,000 Coloradans from every county in the state in the last year alone. This year’s efforts by the Associates Campaign raised $74,000 than last year — achieving a new record for a total of $302,550.52 for the Legal Aid Foundation.

“We’re thrilled to have this level of engagement during a very weary and challenging time of the pandemic,” Legal Aid Foundation Board Chair Eric Olson said in a news release. “The real winners are the folks needing legal help that will benefit from the extraordinary amount of money raised.”

The funds raised will allow Colorado Legal Services to continue assisting low-income Coloradans with pandemic-related legal problems that flow from lost jobs, food and housing insecurity, denials of claims for unemployment, inadequate access to healthcare, and increased domestic violence.
